Loscoe
Loscoe is a small village in the borough of Amber Valley, which is known as the Heart of Derbyshire.
It lies on the main A6008 road between Codnor and Heanor and has its own
primary school, its own post office, a handful of shops, and a few pubs. It also has the Charles Hill Playing Field,
which lies beside the Red River Nature Reserve by St. Luke's Church.
This page contains links that will be of use and interest to local people and, we hope, to anyone visiting the area.
Groups and organisations

Loscoe has an active Women's Institute group that meets on the third Wednesday of every month (except August) at the
Evergreen Centre (see below). New members are always welcome.

The Charles Hill Sports Centre in Loscoe includes playing fields, changing rooms, a meeting room and an indoor sports hall.
The sports hall was used for badminton and five-a-side football, as well by other groups, until
it was closed at the end of March 2011 by Amber Valley Borough Council who claimed it was
not used enough to justify the cost of repairs and running costs.
The sports hall is not much to look at form the outside and is in urgent need of repair. But it has been part of the community for
over 50 years, making it the oldest of Amber Valley's community use indoor sports centres.
Regrettably, a petition containing over 1,300 signatures was not enough to persuade the council to keep it open and available
for the local people.
