Amber Valley is known as the Heart of Derbyshire. It lies within the East Midlands area of England, just to the north of Derby, and includes towns such as Heanor, Ripley, Alfreton and Belper. Many smaller villages have their own attractions: Denby has its well-known pottery, and Crich has the famous Tramway Museum.

Whether you live in the area or intend to visit, whether you know the area well or not at all, you are sure to find a lot of interesting information by exploring the links on this page.

Belper Leisure Centre. A good website that covers all the centre's facilities.

Local Radio

Amber Sound. Transmitting on 107.2 FM, Amber Sound is run by local people for local people.

Out and about

Crich Tramway Village. Home to the National Tram Museum. You can ride the trams all day!.
Denby Pottery. Look for the link to the Visitor's Centre on the Denby Pottery website.
Kedleston Hall. Learn more on the National Trust's website.
Lea Gardens. Known for the rhododendrons and azaleas, but open only for a few weeks each year. Check before travelling.
Midland Railway Centre. A day out riding on steam trains and visiting the other features of the centre.
Red River Local Nature Reserve. Read more of the work to manage a small but much-loved haven in Loscoe.
North Mill & River Gardens, Belper. Strutt's North Mill and the lovely Belper River Gardens.
