The Evergreen Centre in Loscoe re-opens

11th February 2010.

The Evergreen Centre in Loscoe has been closed while a complete refurbishment was carried out. Today, 11th February 2010, saw the re-opening of the centre, with improvements to the kitchen and toilet facilities, a new floor, window blinds and furniture. Further work to the roof, new doors and outside paving, plus full redecoration complete the £22,000 project.

Margaret North, Paul Parkinson and a repesentative from Connaught Partnerships Ltd.

Paul, the executive director of Amber Valley Housing, presents Margaret with a certificate to commemorate official re-launch of the centre.

Representatives of groups that use the centre were present, and enjoyed the re-opening ceremony and tea and cakes that were on offer.

Unfortunately the ladies of the Women's Institute discovered at their next meeting in the hall that they had difficulty in reaching across the worktop and up to the water heater on the wall.

The funds for the project were donated by Connaught Partnerships Ltd as part of their ‘One in a million’ fund, which sees 1% of every million pounds spent by Amber Valley with Connaught, given back to projects that benefit the community.

Loscoe's Evergreen Centre is regularly used by several groups including Loscoe Women’s Institute, the Gatepost Theatre Company and Craig Sanders Drama Club.
